🐾 Pet-Friendly Campervan Policy By Roam and Roll Campervan Japan
At Roam and Roll Campervan Japan, we understand that pets are part of the family. We’re happy to welcome your furry companions on selected campervans, so you can enjoy exploring Japan together.
To keep our campervans safe, clean, and comfortable for everyone, please follow the conditions below.
1. Pet-Friendly Vehicles
Pets are permitted only in designated Pet-Friendly campervans.
Please inform us that you will be travelling with a pet before making your booking. Pets may not be added to a booking without prior approval from Roam and Roll Campervan.
Availability of Pet-Friendly vehicles is subject to the rental period and vehicle availability.
2. Accepted Pets
Dogs and cats are welcome in our designated Pet-Friendly campervans.
Please provide the following information when making your reservation:
Type of pet
Breed
Approximate weight
Number of pets travelling
Acceptance is subject to prior approval by Roam and Roll Campervan.
3. Pet-Friendly Fee – ¥15,000 per Rental
A Pet-Friendly Fee of ¥15,000 per rental applies when travelling with a pet.
This fee is charged once per rental, regardless of the length of the rental period, and includes:
Normal pet-related cleaning
Pet hair removal
General interior cleaning after your rental
The Pet-Friendly Fee covers normal cleaning only.
Professional Deep Cleaning / Deodorising
If the campervan requires professional deep cleaning or deodorising due to its condition upon return, an additional charge starting from ¥24,000 will apply.
This may include, but is not limited to:
Urine or faeces inside the vehicle
Vomit
Strong or persistent pet odours
Excessive pet hair
Significant stains
Fleas, ticks, or other pest-related treatment
Any condition requiring specialist cleaning or professional deodorising
The final charge may be higher depending on the condition of the vehicle and the actual cost of professional cleaning required.
Please note that damage caused by pets is not included in either the Pet-Friendly Fee or Professional Deep Cleaning / Deodorising charge. Any repair or replacement costs will be charged separately.
4. Safety While Driving
While the campervan is moving, pets must be safely secured using an appropriate:
Pet safety harness
Carrier
Travel crate
Pets must not be allowed to move freely into the driver's area, sit on the driver's lap, interfere with the steering wheel or pedals, or otherwise distract the driver.
The renter is responsible for providing a suitable restraint system for their pet unless otherwise agreed with Roam and Roll Campervan.
5. Seats, Beds & Interior
To help us maintain the campervan for future guests:
Pets should not be placed directly on bedding, pillows, or blankets provided by Roam and Roll.
Please use a pet blanket, protective sheet, or seat cover when your pet is on seats or sleeping areas.
Pets must not scratch, bite, chew, or damage seats, mattresses, curtains, cabinets, flooring, or other vehicle equipment.
Please clean muddy or wet paws before allowing your pet inside the campervan.
6. Do Not Leave Pets Unattended
Pets should not be left unattended inside the campervan, particularly during warm weather.
Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can rise very quickly, even when the outside temperature does not feel extremely hot.
The renter is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of their pet throughout the rental.
7. Cleaning Before Return
Before returning the campervan, please:
Remove all pet waste
Remove excessive pet hair where reasonably possible
Clean visible mud or dirt
Remove pet food and treats
Dispose of used pet pads and waste bags
Return the interior in a reasonably clean condition
Normal pet-related cleaning and hair removal are included in the ¥15,000 Pet-Friendly Fee.
However, Professional Deep Cleaning / Deodorising charges starting from ¥24,000 may apply if the vehicle is returned with urine, faeces, vomit, strong odours, excessive pet hair, significant stains, fleas/ticks, or any other condition requiring specialist treatment.
8. Damage Caused by Pets
The renter is responsible for any damage caused by their pet during the rental.
This may include, but is not limited to:
Scratched or torn seats
Damaged mattresses
Chewed furniture or equipment
HomeDamaged curtains
Scratched interior panels
Damage to flooring
Urine or other permanent stains
Damage requiring replacement rather than cleaning
Pet-related damage is not covered by the ¥15,000 Pet-Friendly Fee and will be charged separately in accordance with the rental agreement and applicable insurance conditions.
9. Campsites & Overnight Locations
Not all campsites, RV parks, hotels, attractions, or public facilities in Japan allow pets.
Customers are responsible for checking the pet policy of each campsite or facility before arrival.
Please also follow local rules regarding leads/leashes, waste disposal, noise, and designated pet areas.
10. Pet Behaviour
Owners are responsible for keeping their pets under control at all times.
Pets that are aggressive, excessively destructive, or likely to create a safety risk may not be accepted.
Please be considerate of other campers and local residents, particularly regarding barking and noise during the evening and early morning.
11. Health & Travel Requirements
Pet owners are responsible for ensuring that their pets comply with all applicable Japanese laws, vaccination requirements, import/quarantine requirements, and other regulations.
Roam and Roll Campervan does not provide veterinary, quarantine, or pet import services.
12. Responsibility of the Renter
The renter remains responsible for their pet throughout the rental period.
Any additional cleaning, repair, replacement, loss of use, or other costs resulting from the pet may be charged in accordance with the rental agreement.
By bringing a pet into a Roam and Roll Campervan, the renter agrees to comply with this Pet-Friendly Policy.
